In a moment of frustration a thought rushed through the head,
Of an ageing adventurer, who long should have been dead.
He once had a life doing military things
With all of the excitement that such a transitory life brings.
Escaping the green he started to paddle and climb,
And to express his excitement he started to rhyme.
So armed with a camera into the sea he descends,
Accompanied by mad people, the ones he calls friends.
Leaving the vast open landscape of Dartmoor, Mick now hides away on the Isles of Scilly, far from the chaos of mainland life. Embraced by the weather and tides this seeming idyllic life has frustrations of its own, countered by the salt air and the cry of the gulls. A million miles from the lightning pace of safety, rescue and military service, a lifetime ago, in far off lands.
Along side work as a coasteering and kayak guide he volunteers with the local wildlife trust, coastguard and the British Marine Life Rescue. This is now juggled with my creative side, something I have struggled with sharing for a long time, like all of us, shying from ridicule or rejection.
